A couple months ago I got an email from the College of Journalism about a trip in the works to New York. I dismissed the email until my mom resent it to me 2 weeks later. The trip had officially been set, and they were organizing visits to different advertising agencies. They included a few of the companies on the email and my eyes immediately went to COSMOPOLITAN. I have dreamt of working for a magazine company like Cosmo, Vogue, Elle and so many others ever since I started reading magazines. Long story short....I signed up for the trip.

As the departure date crept up, more and more companies were being added to the tours. And finally after what seemed like forever, we got to sign up for which companies we wanted to go to. My six companies that I picked included: Taylor, Weber Shandwick, R/GA, LaFORCE, Cosmopolitan and Havas. All these companies are a mix of digital advertising agencies, sports marketing and PR.

NEW YORK

We landed mid-afternoon and collected our luggage. Josie, Maddie and I took a 25 minute bus ride to the subway station, rode the subway for another half hour, and then walked 8 blocks to our hotel... and it only cost us $2.50.

The next 3 days were a blur of tours, sightseeing, eating $1 pizza and getting lost. But with every day I fell in love with New York more and more. I learned so much on the agency tours and can confidently say I know what I want to do when I grow up, aka WHEN I GRADUATE NEXT YEAR. I am so grateful to go to one of the best Journalism schools in the country and that they offered this experience.

Here are some pictures from the trip! #NewYorkStateOfMind

We also documented some of the random moments on our trip in a video! Check it out...
