A hint of My Summer

Backstory

. . . .

Ever since I can remember, I never liked the taste of plain water. I know that sounds crazy — but you will never catch me drinking a Dasani. Different types of water have strange aftertastes, and I'm not about it. My mom introduced me to hint water in middle school. When she went to meet her friends at Starbucks she would pick one up from the fridge (she doesn't like coffee, and only gets London Fog's on special occasions). I remember when she picked me up from school the bottle was sitting in the center console, and I asked if I could try some. I instantly loved it. My mom would occasionally buy some, but they weren't sold in stores at the time. One Christmas my brother bought me a plastic bottle that had a fruit infuser in it just because of how obsessed I was with fruit water. I would bring it to school every day with a different concoction mixed up. Lemon-Cucumber was a go-to, so was strawberry-mint-pineapple. This lasted for at least a year until my beloved bottle broke. To this day, my high school friends remember my flavored water and tease me for it.

This is the only picture I could find with it from high school...maybe apple-orange that day?

College- Junior Year

During my Junior year I started stressing myself out that I needed to find the PERFECT internship. I was spending all my free time researching, applying and getting in my head. Then I received some of the best advice from my brother. He told me to look around my room and find brands that I already loved. Sitting right next to me was a hint water. I couldn't find any applications on their website, so instead I messaged them on Instagram. I didn't get a direct response but they sent me a case of free water and told me to come visit their HQ if I was ever in the area.

2018- Spring Break

I flew home for spring break, still defeated that I hadn't heard back from a lot of companies that I applied to. But wanting to enjoy my break, I decided to plan a day trip to San Francisco with my mom (it's only a 45 minute trip from our house)! We ate brunch, walked around the pier, went shopping and finally ended up at hint's HQ. We walked right in and immediately the employees starting handing me free shirts, water and other swag. After collecting several business cards, I felt determined to make it work. A week later, sitting in the window seat of the airplane heading back to Nebraska, I sent out a few emails with my resume, and heard back right away.

I was contacted by their Senior Content Manager, Erin. After two phone interviews and completing an assignment, I was hired as the Editorial Intern for the summer!!

Wooo!!

May 2018

My. First. Day. I walk in the office at 8am, and immediately see 6 dogs running around. *insert heart eye emoji* I'll leave it at that.

I can hands down say this was the best summer. I had so many unique experiences and made so many new friends. It was a lot of hard work, but it paid off in the end, and I can say that I walked away from my internship wiser. Everyday was different in the office, but that just meant I had to stay on my toes. I even overcame my fear of sending professional emails (still included too many exclamation points! whoops). If I had to explain everything I got to do this summer I would be writing a novel — So I'll let you explore for yourself.

Here are all of my articles that got published to the Quench!

1. My first article — wrote it all on my first day!

2. This one was so fun to write.

3. If you like mojito's...this one's for you.

5. My most controversial piece...

6. We love a good smoothie bowl :)

This summer I also starred in my first tutorial video! In this episode we made fancy ice cubes...

. . . .

Ok so now I'm crying while going through pictures from the summer. Enjoy...
